Beach, Exposed (2011)
It’s been…a very long time since I’ve had the opportunity to create an exposure piece: not since I was a very little girl, at any rate.  Back then, one of my favorite past times during the long, hot summer was to collect random objects from our yard, the beach, or wherever and use them to create little vignettes atop sheets of chemically treated paper that faded when it was exposed to the sun.  When developed in a pan of cold water, it created a reverse negative.  This mini-seashore was created with just a few shells, dried weeds, and a turtle-shaped barrette.  Unfortunately, the turtle’s unusual shape did not lend itself to the developing process, so he looks more like a blob than a cute turtle…
