sunbathing kitty

Tortie, Missing the Sun (abt. 1998)
One of my earliest works in oil pastels, this kitty lazing away a winter day under the warmth of a heat lamp was definitely an exercise in patience.  Oils by their very nature are a great deal less forgiving than ordinary pastels…especially when your school can’t provide all the necessary tools for working in extremely specialized media.  Still, he didn’t turn out half-bad.
