artist’s day off, 16 may 2017

So last week’s second excursion was a washout. Literally.  Once it started raining Sunday evening, it stayed grey, wet and miserable for the rest of the week. In fact, we didn’t see hide nor hair of the sun again until Saturday…when I was stuck at work til well after dark! With this week promising to be clear and dry though, I arranged to slip out and get some more shooting done while the weather cooperated.

Today’s stop was Redwing. Formerly the the site of the Old City Poor Farm, the land  was acquired by the county in 1879 but not converted to its current state until 1966 when it was developed into a city park. It now boasts several well-known gardens, including the Reba S. McClanan Fragrance Garden and the Miyazaki Japanese Garden. There weren’t many flowers in bloom today, but the scenery and a surprise appearance by a broad headed skink made up for it…

Enjoy!
